Our Society Can Be Better Once Again If .......

The all co-operative societies operating around us are empower to have some privileges in the seat of power and decision making. This is expected to ginger up all members towards contributing their best which could include their presence and their cash to the running of society. The running of a Co-operative society is not like running other public limited liabilities, for example; the private companies or joint stock companies; where the shareholders don’t normally participate directly in the operation of the business. In co-operative, the management is directly done by the members. This means the shareholders directly participate in the running of its affairs. Because of this truth, there is no time the investor is given second hand information about the business as him/her is also involved in the operation of the business. If on the other hand there is loss observed in the process, every member must also share the risk.

IDUMUJE-UNOR in Delta State

It becomes paramount in the mind of the publishers of Gofta news magazine to fully penetrate the reasons the co-operative Society was formed. (Addressing the issues of community development and encouraging self help programs).
Base on this resolve, from this edition, Gofta news will be featuring different communities at a glance. In it, we will talk about the effort of such community, its requirements, and its intended contribution to complement government effort.
In this edition, we will relate some fact about the community called IDUMUJE-UNOR in Delta State.

In our proposition to ensure the development of the well-being of the people in the communities. We the GOFTA group ensures that we visit any community that are industrious and that has effectively put in their best in any agriculture activities. We ensured they are educated and enlightened on the new method of farming and how they can improve in their productivity.
Recently, the Gofta Group traveled a long distance to Idumuje-unior in Aniocha north local Government area of Delta-State. This was based on the information we heard regarding the fertile nature of the community soil and the effective and industrial uses of the soil in the area of agriculture, by the people.

Idumuje-unor is a large community with a large scale of fertile land. The occupation of the people is mainly farming their main produce are cassava and yam; they can be regarded as one of the highest cassava producing community in Delta state.

The Gofta Group arrived there on the 28th of August 2008 which coincides with their new yam festival. The Group was highly welcome by the people. Lead by the Chief security officer of the community Chief Sunday Ejenam. Rtd. Sgt Ejenam is one of the most successful farmers in the community.  One much-admired thing about this community is that the people have always practiced the traditional method of farming. None the less, they have been prosperous; though not to the full potential of the soil.
The Gofta group after stating their mission, swing into action by organizing the people together as groups and educating them in the latest method of planting for better yield. It was an interesting sight to see the zealousness of the people when the program was on
During the question and answer section in the line up, the people complained bitterly of the government neglect to this sector of the economy.

Even the industries around were not helping matters as they preferred to buy raw materials outside the community; rather than patronizing their immediate producers
In order to encourage and boost the effort of these determined farmers, Gofta world group promised to assist them create an open market to enable them sell their produces with ease.

EGHUDU COMMUNITY ON FOCUS

OFTA NEWS EDITION FOUR

In the Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State, Edo South to be precise is the home of some group of Binis that has been loyal to the king since the world. The inhabitants of this land are mostly farmers’ hunters and fishermen. Sometimes, they use boats for transportation during their fishing adventures. But the main access of the people is the road leading to the major Ekenwan Road. They also use the boat to transport themselves from one end of the river to the other.
They are also good Hunters as they never go to the forest without coming back with one kind of animal or the other. This village will be said to be located in the hills as the river is about 5 meter below the ground level.
Eghudu occupies a large square land of about 4 miles at each side with about 3500 inhabitants dwelling in the land. Eghudu community has subordinate camps that are paying homage to them within the domain the community is covering. Eghudu village housed several kinds of natural endowment that can take even a Nation to a greater glory. The land is fertile for agricultural produces. Some of the great farmers that the State has ever produced are from in this village. The eagle eyes of the grand eucalypts of the Gofta world group, cited this land from a distance of about 100 kilometers away, and decided to trace the tiny sparkle that led the way to this human sustainer.
The Odionwere of the community Mr. German Omorogbe is a man of inestimable value, as he recognized the presence of the goftans in his community he quickly embraced it. The first farming project ever instituted was carried out in one of the virgin land of the community. The indigenes of this land have done the best they have to make this community a habitable for people; by maintaining the only access road to this community regularly. They also put all available means within their disposal to secure the only primary school they have. Since the construction of a medical centre has been completed by the government for the community, they have been doing their best to protect it. Even though it has not been commissioned.
From the effort of the people so far; there is no doubt that Eghudu community needs constant P.H.C.N energy supply in order to run the health centre effectively.
he community also needs a secondary school so that the pupils that pass out of the primary school can conveniently continue in the secondary without coming back to the city, to populate it.
Eghudu indigenes needs good road in order for them to be able to convey their agricultural produces to the markets.

The government at all level are therefore invited to this life sustaining community to see the need why their attention is needed by all Eghudu indigenes  and the non indigenous dwellers of the community.
The great and prospective farmers of the community mostly the Gofta farmers needs to be  reimbursed; so that they will be able to meet their targeted produce for the farming season. to enable them, make food available for all.
